Joanne
Pekrul
Jul 13, 1955 — Sep 13, 2026
Moriches, NY
Joanne Pekrul, 71, of Hauppauge, New York, passed away on September 13, 2026. She was born on July 13, 1955, to George and Nancy Utter and was the third of eight children. Joanne was raised alongside her brothers and sisters in Hauppauge, New York, where she spent her childhood and attended Hauppauge High School.
After graduating from Hauppauge High School, Joanne married her high school sweetheart, Gary Pekrul. Together, they built a beautiful life and welcomed two children, their son, Ronald, and their daughter, Kerri-Lynn, whom Joanne loved dearly.
Throughout the years, Joanne worked in the medical field before following another passion and returning to school. She proudly earned her associate’s degree in interior design, a field she truly loved. She had a wonderful eye for beauty and creativity, but her greatest talent and passion was photography.
Joanne was incredibly gifted behind the camera. She had a special ability to see beauty in the world around her and capture it through her lens, making even the simplest moments and places look extraordinary. Her love of photography allowed her to preserve countless memories and share the beauty she saw with the people she loved.
Joanne also had a love for travel and enjoyed exploring the world with her family and friends. Everywhere she went, she brought her camera along, documenting the places she visited and the special moments she experienced. Her photographs will remain a lasting reminder of the way she saw the world—with beauty, creativity, and wonder.
Joanne is survived by her beloved husband, Gary; her son, Ronald Pekrul, and his wife, Donna; and her daughter, Kerri-Lynn Peters, and her husband, John. She also leaves behind her six cherished grandchildren, Giovanni, Dana, Emily, Elyssa, Megan, and John-Paul, and her precious great-granddaughter, Haisleigh.
Joanne was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her love for her family was at the heart of everything she did. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories, photographs, love, and moments that will be treasured forever.
She will be missed more than words can express and will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
