John William Liberto, 82, of Middle Island, New York, passed away on April 19, 2026.

John was born to Angelo and Helen Liberto. He lived a full and vibrant life defined by hard work, creativity, and an unwavering devotion to his family. He began his career as a hairdresser, where his warmth and ability to connect with people left a lasting impression. He later pursued his passion for writing and entrepreneurship—authoring books and building his own businesses, including owning and operating Carvel ice cream stores.

John had a special gift that brought joy to everyone around him—he could create songs on the spot, effortlessly rhyming about anyone or anything in the moment. His quick wit and humor made him unforgettable.

Above all, John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He shared a loving marriage of 59 years with his wife, Rosalie—a true partnership built on love, loyalty, and dedication. He was a proud and loving father to his daughters, Angela, Maria, Gabriella, and Leticia. His seven grandchildren were the light of his life and brought him endless pride and happiness.

He is also survived by his twin brother, William, with whom he shared a lifelong and special bond.

John loved the United States and proudly believed it to be the greatest country in the world. He also had a strong interest in politics and enjoyed staying informed and engaged in current events.

A passionate sports fan, John proudly supported the New York Mets, New York Jets, Brooklyn Nets, and St. John’s basketball. Whether watching a game or talking sports, it was one of his greatest joys.

John will be remembered for his strength, entrepreneurial spirit, humor, and the deep love he gave so freely. His legacy will live on through his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
