Joseph R.
Cosentino
Nov 9, 1937 — Oct 31, 2026
Massapequa, NY
Joseph R. Cosentino passed away on October 31, 2026, at the age of 88. In recent years, he lived
courageously with chordoma, a rare form of cancer, and its related physical challenges.
He is survived by his daughters, Michelle Antonelli and Catherine Renzi. He was predeceased by his
beloved wife, Catherine, in June 2023, following 65 years of marriage. He is also survived by his
sister, Gloria Deizman; his brother, Tony Cosentino; and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins,
and friends.
Joseph was born in Chicago, Illinois, on November 9, 1937. He graduated from Gordon Technical
High School, where he played quarterback on the football team. He began his career in the Carson
Pirie Scott Management Training Program before relocating to Massapequa, New York, in 1966. His
career in the New York garment industry began at M. Serman & Co. and concluded at HMS
Productions. Although he officially retired at age 81, he never lost his passion for retail, fashion,
merchandising, and business.
Joe loved his work and especially valued the relationships he built through it. He enjoyed business
travel and appreciated his employees, customers, and colleagues across the country. An optimist
and an extrovert by nature, he was generous with his time, kindness, and friendship. He often said
that strangers were simply friends he had not yet met.
He never tired of sharing stories accompanied by a hearty laugh, enjoying a great steak, or settling
in to watch a football game on television. His warmth, enthusiasm, and gift for connecting with
people left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation or the
Chordoma Foundation. A Celebration of Life will be planned in 2027.
