Young Shin, age 73, passed away peacefully in her husband’s arms on April 20, 2026, in the Sunnyside home she cherished for 45 years.

Born in South Korea in 1952, Young immigrated to New York City in 1983 in pursuit of a better life for her family. She devoted her life to caring for those she loved, and in her final days, she was surrounded by that same love and care in return.

Young leaves behind her beloved husband, Dong Shin, and her two children, Teddy and SuJi, who will continue to honor her legacy by carrying forward the traditions and values she instilled. She touched countless lives through her warmth, generosity, and the love she expressed so often through her cooking. Her selflessness and unwavering habit of putting others before herself will forever be remembered.

After years of quiet strength and suffering, Young now rests in peace. In accordance with her wishes, her family asks that her life be celebrated with good food, music, and an abundance of love—just as she so generously shared with others.
