Uncle Herbert, You are missed. I’am thankful for all the time I was able to share with you. And mostly you were open to hear the gospel of Jesus. Spring was your favorite season, with the songbirds, flowers, gentle breezes to stroll in. Rest In Peace under the Lords wings.TY, for your sharing caring words Becca, May you Rest In Peace under our Lords wings too.

My Uncle Herbert Mahan and father passed in the same month of Autumn whom both are remembered for love of their swimming in this season and my father for his travels too. Both recognized as natives of Cold SpringHarbor,LI.NY from whaling ancestry.and in uniform.Appreciated the arts and opera too.

A wonderful Uncle whom was centered in cultural activities and helped raising two nieces on his Cold Spring Harbor land and home.He loved his dogs, swimming, outdoors, golf, raking leaves and walks into town.He was a survivor after being hit in a Huntington crosswalk. He opened up his experiences about living and being stationed in the Panama Canal Zone during his hospital recovery with a new hip.He attended many operas in the NY metropolitan areas too which enlightened his niece and friends who he invited. Many of us will miss our visits with him and the walks. He loved his walks through his fields and shared his memories of them in his nursing home chapter of his life where he cultured a relationship with his lady friend.Aida, whom took the train to visit.Lot of his phone conversations were very tied to the weather from the past. Many of us who knew him will miss him and his presence about Cold Spring Harbor.
