We love you and miss you Uncle Leon. He always gave a weird of advice and encouragement. I loved going down to the basement to listen to "real music" then out to the garage to look at the cars, which were always showroom quality. We will miss the holiday gatherings when all the parents sit and talk for hours reminiscing about home then bantering back and forth while the kids either played pictionary and watched a movie. There was always love and laughter. Thanks for all the great memories.

Elaine Granderson There are many people that we meet in our lives, but only a few makes a lasting impression on our minds and hearts Leon was one of those people whenever we spoke to each other, whether in person or on the phone always made you feel special my husband Sam and I have known him and Undine for decades conversations with him always let you know that he cared for your well being, it is someone so rare that will always remain important to us as true friends my husband and I are fortunate to have known Leon as a true friend, I pray that God will continue to strengthen his family as the days and time passes may his soul rest in eternal peace and light perpetual shine upon him.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the entire family. I am a good friend of Welma, and knows that she is grieving the loss of her father terribly. I will have all of you in my prayers continuously as this does not get better for quite some time. May he rest in eternal peace, and may the good Lord give each of you solace and peace in your hearts at this time.

Please accept our deepest sympathies on the passing of your father. We want to take this opportunity to thank James for making us feel so welcome in our new neighborhood. He came over, introduced himself and shared some of its history including the names of the residents. James was such an ambassador, he was not shy to promote his positive community as a great place for us to live. He felt equally proud about the character of his neighbors, the way they got along and assured us that in time we would call our neighborhood home. He would drop by so did we to chit chat from time to time, and he became a friend. His words of encouragement will always remain with us. James, your truth still resonate with us because since leaving the Caribbean never have we felt this type of warmth, care, and welcome. Rest in Peace, James, you're gone but not forgotten.

Will miss you Uncle Leon. Just the other day I was driving thinking a car would come into my lane. I remembered to watch the car’s front wheels to see which direction it was heading courtesy of Uncle. He had visited me in Houston, some years ago, and gave me that tip when we were driving. Sounds simple but something you don’t typically think of. He was also meticulous in maintaining his vehicles and of course giving advice :) Had washed my car and didn’t wipe inside by the door jambs, He asked me, so you don’t own that part of the car?? Lol. Rest In Peace Uncle Leon. Love, Kurt.

Maria Mc Phie Jones left a message on November 10, 2022:
My name is Maria mcphie Jones from Grenada. First, may I pause to say thank you for this great opportunity to extend my condolences to the family and friends of my loving brother, Leon James Mcphie. Bro. Leon was our big hero. As children my sisters and I have never seen Leon face to face, since he resided in Trinidad. However, on our father's visit to Grenada Pa Mcphie always mentioned his son Leon who we thought was placed on a pinnacle by our father. One day while in school we received a portrait of Leon. Oh man, he was handsome with chiseled ears and lips, deep sitted black eyes separated by a long straight nose. Man he was our brother and I was glad. I took the portrait to school with me to show off to my friends that this person is my brother from Trinidad. I can assure you that Leon was a caring and loving man. After the passing of our father both Leon and his wife Undine Graves, came to Grenada from Trinidad to sympathize with us; my mother and my two siblings Jean and Angella (deceased). His stay in Grenada was memoriable......I can recall him taking us out for a boat ride and then to a place to dine in the city. After which he gave us two Eastern Caribbean dollars each. That was a lot of money in those days. What a loving brother he was. A long time friend and neighbour of Leon's was sent to us by the name of Mr Jack who came to check us and Leon instructed him as to the village in which we resided. We got *US$50.00* to be shared amount three of us it was the best christmas spent! Over the years we lost connection with our dear brother. Suddenly I received a call from Welma stating that my brother while cleaning found our address and contact number and needs to reconnect with us. Years later I visit my brother and his wife in Queens we greeted with tears of joy and recollection of how our father spoke highly of him being well polished and mannered unlike us girls who were rough and wild. Bro. Leon was the only link we girls had on our paternal side. October of this year I received a call from Welma, then from Jenine (if spelt correctly), and from Jenniefier stating that my brother is not doing good health wise. I was sad but was also please to meet my new relatives. I called him instantly and we converse and as usual he would conclude by saying, 'I love you'. It was that call I received stating that my brother Leon have left us. My heart was broken at the news as tears ran down my eyes. On such note, I extend deepest condolences to his immediate family, other children and friends. May God comfort you all. Thanks for being there for him in his time to need. May his soul rest in peace. PA MCPHIE WAS RIGHT HE WAS A NICE MAN . AMEN.🇬🇩😭

To my friend James , you were one of a kind getting to know you was a pleasure may you find eternal peace . One thing that would always resonate for me is that James came from Moruga , we shared stories, things that I forgot he remembered. Some of my in-laws he knew growing up in Moruga he brought back many memories for me . He used to tell me I had a big mouth when we argued which was often when he wanted to have his own way. He would surely be missed , like the song he did things his way. Frank Sinatra.
