New York – Scott Redhead, 56, of New York, passed away on November 11, 2023. Born on January 11, 1967, in Phoenix, NY, Scott was the son of Marilyn (Duell) Redhead and Arnold Redhead. He is survived by his brother, Todd Redhead (and wife Sandy Redhead), and his niece Courtney and nephew Tyler. Scott was preceded in death by his beloved parents.
Scott was the Salutatorian of his high school class, and went on to achieve a Bachelor of Arts from Hofstra University and a Master of Science in Education. He established a distinguished career in the insurance industry, earning the title of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter. Midway through his career, Scott made a meaningful career change and became an exceptional educator as a New York City Public High School Math teacher, serving in the Bronx. For over a decade, he inspired his fellow teachers and changed the lives of countless students, who expressed their immense gratitude in letters of well wishes and condolences.
Scott expressed his spirituality and Christian faith through prayer and was recently baptized in The Oswego Church of Christ. He found joy in Color Guard, both as an enthusiastic participant and as a coach for local high schoolers in his spare time. Scott had passion for living and loved his life in New York City taking full advantage of its nightlife, arts, food, music, and other offerings. He enjoyed a wide variety of physical fitness activities including gym workouts and long walks, frequently in Fort Tryon, his neighborhood park. Scott was a proud member of the Hudson/Washington Heights community. Scott was kind and caring with a generous heart. He loved nothing more than spending time and sharing his infectious laugh with his beloved family and friends, who will miss him dearly.
Memorial services will be planned at a future date in accordance with Scott’s expressed wishes. The family suggests that memorial donations be directed to the American Cancer Society. Thank you for your understanding and support during this difficult time.
