Resided in New York, NY

I have known Yolanda Campisi for approximately 30 years. We both were involved with rescuing dogs and cats. Yolanda was a fierce opponent if you were someone who was cruel to an animal. I remember her uncovering many Korean grocery stores who kept cats in their basements in order to get rid of rodents. These poor cats were not fed, watered or cared for in any way. Yolanda rescued many of these cats and found loving homes for them. I remember her dog, Chance, who she loved so much. Chance accepted all the little cats that Yolanda brought home. She even helped homeless people. And you could always call her for advice and guidance when needed. I will miss her powerful presence and true friendship.

If possible, I would love a member of her family to contact me. I give permission to give my email ONLY to a member of her family. Thank you.

Yolanda was a friend of many years and a stalwart defender of animal rights. She devoted a good deal of her time to the rescue and care of abused store cats in the city saving many a life. RIP!

I have known Yolanda for approximately 30 years. We met as fellow animal rescuers and I was always inspired and touched by her strength, fortitude and love when it came to helping dogs and cats. She fearlessly walked into Korean deli's where cats were kept for killing mice. These cats were often kept in basements and not fed. She was able to rescue these and many other cats from deplorable situations. Yolanda was a fierce opponent when it came to helping the helpless. Though she was difficult to deal with, her motives always stemmed from love. I will miss her.
