Obituary

Daniel Albert Tribley, age 61, formerly of Altamont, and residing in Ronkonkoma on Long Island, passed on March 15, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. Born in Niskayuna on September 23, 1961, he was the son of the late Floretta June (Van Olpen) Brunk and the late Lawrence G. Tribley.

Daniel graduated from Guilderland High School in Guilderland, NY, and was a dedicated and long-time employee of the Patchogue-Medford School District in Long Island where he was well loved and respected by his co-workers and once served as PTA president at his daughters’ school.

Daniel was known for being very quick witted and funny. He was light-hearted and had a truly amazing memory. He had a genuine love for nature and especially the ocean. He enjoyed fishing, hiking, and searching for and collecting antique bottles. He was an avid gardener and loved cooking and preparing seafood for his family and friends. Daniel could build and fix almost anything but had a true passion and talent for restoring old antique clocks. Family members still recall being startled at multiple clocks chiming all at once on the hour while visiting his home. He loved to play guitar and sing and would sometimes share songs with loved ones.

Daniel is survived by his daughters Danielle Tribley, Melissa Tribley, and Sarah Tribley, his partner Alycia Carbonaro, siblings Gerald Tribley (Lori), Cheryl Steven (Mark) Benjamin Brunk (Margaret) and Julie Bazzell (Morgan), and step-father Richard Brunk. Daniel was predeceased by his mother, Floretta June (Van Olpen) Brunk and father, Lawrence G. Tribley.

The family will be holding private services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Honor of Daniel to ADK, Adirondack Mountain Club, a non-profit, tax exempt charitable organization that helps protect New York’s wild lands and waters. See adk.org.
