It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Om Prakash Malhotra. Born in Patiala, India, O.P. moved to the United States in 1969, where he pursued his love of literature and teaching.
O.P. received his B.A., B.Ed., and M.A. in India before earning his PhD from Binghamton University. He began his career as an associate professor at Farmingdale State College in 1973. Over the course of his distinguished career, O.P. became the Chairman of the English Department, where he was admired by students and colleagues alike for his passion for literature and dedication to teaching.
O.P. was a devoted husband to his wife, Vimla, of 65 years, and a loving father to his two daughters, Anju (Rolf) and Meena (Haresh), and son, Sanjay (Ann). He was also a doting grandfather to his four granddaughters, Gabrielle, Meghan, Nicole, and Kaamiya, whom he cherished dearly.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A celebration of O.P.’s life will be held at a later date.
